The next generation of consoles is well and truly here and Microsoft have announced that they have already shifted over 3 million units of the Xbox One.
Next Generation Consoles Enjoy Stellar Start
It’s hard to believe that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have already been available since November, but they have and both consoles have enjoyed a pretty good start to their life cycle.
In fact, Microsoft have recently come out and let us know exactly how much units they have managed to get into people’s homes in the short duration the console has been on the market.
We already know that over 1 million units of the PlayStation 4 were shifted in the first two weeks and Microsoft’s latest figures are equaly as impressive.
3 Million Units Of Microsoft’s Xbox One Sold
Microsoft decided it was a good time to let everybody know just how well the console is doing and their corporate vice president of marketing strategy and business for Xbox ,Yusuf Mehdi, is of course delighted with the success of the flagship product.
In a recent statement that was posted on a fans website he thanked those who supported the console and helped the Xbox One reached its current sales figures. He also assured them that they are still looking at ways to get the console shipped out and into people homes as quickly as Microsoft are managing to manufacture them.
“Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.”
More to Come For Xbox One
There is still more to come from the Xbox one and it is worth noting that the console has only shipped in 13 countries so far.
We have also yet to see the big Next Generation exclusives that are set to hit the platform in a niche in your future which will increase sells even further.
So far 2014 is shaping up quite nicely for Microsoft, and despite the lack of any blockbuster currently on their platform, the Xbox One has already enjoyed a good start to the life. After some of the early issues troubling the launch buildup of the console, Microsoft will be breathing a sigh of relief.
