Now that there’s an official developer’s preview out, there are several hardware test results and news stories about hardware support coming out about Windows 8.
Windows 8 Shows Blazing Fast Boot Time Compared To Windows 7
Popular tips and hacks website Lifehacker conducted a video demonstration of a real time comparison between the boot times of Windows 7 & 8. Needless to say that given Windows 8’s new and improved booting system, the results were pretty decisive. Windows 8 booted in to the desktop, all ready to go whilst Windows 7 was still at the Windows logo screen. The difference between the two was over 20 seconds and Windows 8 booted in less the half time between the logo screen and the desktop.
The video can be found here on YouTube. It’s quite telling on how fast the final release of Windows 8 might really be. Instant on is already a feature being touted by several companies who are building hardware for it, which brings us to Intel and their Ultrabooks.
