Microsoft has officially confirmed the Windows 8 app store. Rumored for a long time, now it will become a reality in 2012.
Apple Tries To Trademark Word “App Store”
Steven Sinofsky, Windows President, confirmed that Windows 8 will include an app store. Of course, there were many leaked documents that hinted at a possible app store and the idea of an app store was very plausible, but now it’s official.
Apple of course tried to counter-act and are trying to put a trademark on the word “app store” – a desperate move, because app store is a very general word.
Yes, Apple was the first and iTunes is bringing in big money every day, but that doesn’t give them the right to put a trademark on the word “app store”, does it?
Windows 8 Store: Can It Compete With iTunes?
Sinofsky also revealed that 35 teams of 25-40 developers are working on Windows 8. The question is how many are actively working on the app store? What will Microsoft do that no other company has done before? Will the app store be a real innovation or a simple way to bring in more money?
We will get more information about Windows 8 and the Windows 8 app store in September (starting September 13th) at the BUILD conference. Stay tuned for more updates on Windows 8, Windows 8 news and of course the latest hot Windows 8 themes
