If you are looking forward to Warhammer 40k Space Marines, read our small preview and check out the release date and latest trailer after the break.
What Is Warhammer 40k?
Warhammer 40k Space Marines is based on the Games Workshop stragatey game Warhammer, although the game is totally different from playing Warhammer originally, the game is based off the original board game, although it’s really only the characters / different armies within Warhammer which are used on the game. The game isn’t like a console version of Warhammer, in fact Warhammer 40k Space Marines is a third person shooter game, not a eye-view board strategy game like you may of expected from a warhammer based game, so what is Warhammer 40k Space Marines all about?
It’s about the “army” called Space Marines, which is the most played army in the board game, so it’s no wonder they decided to go with Space Marines for the game, combined with the fact they are, at least to some level of human, combined with space age weapons, like huge hammers that kill everything, it’s certainly fun to play as a Space Marine.
Warhammer 40k Space Marines Release Date
Warhammer 40k Space Marines is set to be released in August 2011, which isn’t too far away and by the looks of the trailers; it’s definitely going to be worth the wait if you’re into shooting games. It’s also a very original game; I mean there isn’t any other game like Warhammer out there, which instantly gives it a advantage over the game market, we’re all hungry of original games and it looks like we’ve got a decent one coming out soon.
Epic Mass Battles
Instantly you get involved in an ongoing battle between Humans (The Space Marines) and the Orks, if you watch the trailer (Which is below) you’ll see the sort of scale these orks attack you at, which makes the game very enjoyable because your usually trying to kill 10-20 orks at the same time. That might sound really hard, but with the weapons you have it’s pretty easy to kill the orks.
The game gets harder when you get further in, like more games do and you’ll have to fight more then orks to complete the game, with the addition of the chaos army involved in the battle, you’ll find slaying the orks easy, but when you’ve got fight some demons, it’s a whole different level of skill. The game requires a mix of fast shooting and strategy to complete the game, despite not being a strategy based game, it still requires some sort of “plan” to get though the levels and to kill all of your enemies.
I’m hoping that once Warhammer 40k Space Marines is released they’ll start work on another Warhammer game, allowing you to be a different class, there are tons of different “armies” in Warhammer, Space Marines are simply the most popular. Hopefully we’ll be seeing a range of these warhammer games, each with a different storyline and obviously different characters / types of character.
