The Tropico franchise is set for its fifth installment almost three years since the last addition.
Tropico 5 Announced For Next Generation
The city-building/island-manager simulator Tropico is getting its fifth game! Almost three years have past since the release of Tropico 4, and now that we have the next generation of consoles available – it has paved the way for the release of a new city building game.
For those who do not know what Tropico is: think about The Cold War and the Cuba, now add dictators from all over Latin America and a bunch of humor and stereotype exaggerations. Ladies and Gentlemen – Welcome to Tropico!
In Tropico you play as El Presidente (The President), ruler of island where Totalitarianism and fraud are the norm. Tropico is one of the few games of the genre that is still active, even 13 years after the release of its first game.
Tropico 5 Coming To PlayStation 4 along With 360 and PC
Tropico 5 was announced last on August 2013 for PC, Mac, Linux and Xbox, but this week Kalypso (the game’s publisher) told the press that Tropico 5 would take full advantage of the PS4’s hardware power and controller features.
Tropico 5 is expected to bring updated trading mechanics, new technologies and more exploration & research features. Also, the game will include multiplayer gameplay (Coop and VS) for up to four players (this will be the first game with multiplayer mode).
The game will break with the limitations of the Cold war and will allow you to rule in three different Eras as you lead your city towards modern times.
No Release Date Announced So Far For Tropico 5
Tropico 5 is set to be one of the most anticipated video games of this year – especially for fans of “God” games. Many will be hoping it does not flop ala Sim City’s latest release last year.
There has still been no mention of an Xbox One or Wii U port of the game.
There is also still no comment on the release date of the game, but rumors point to the second half of 2014.
