Titanfall Will Be Xbox And PC Exclusive “For Life”

Any potential PlayStation 4 owners may be disappointed to learn that there appears little hope of the title every reaching the console.

Titanfall Will Remain Exclusive To PC and Xbox

Titanfall is a mecha first-person shooter game from Respawn Entertainment that has been gathering a lot of hype since its debut at E3 2013 earlier this year. Not least because the game is coming from the same creators behind the massive Call of Duty franchise after their breakaway from Activision.

Unlike the multiplatform Call of Duty series however, Titanfall will remain an exclusive to the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

EA’s Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed as much at EA’s financial call earlier this week.

“In the case of Titanfall, it’s a brand new IP and it’s exclusive only for the life of the title on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and PC,” Jorgensen said.

Each Titanfall Campaign Level Has Its Own Game Mode

One of the major talking points surrounding Titanfall is the approach the game is taking to the traditional campaign mode. This is as the game is set to almost entirely take the form as an online-only multiplayer shooter.

How it is structured remains to be seen with Respawn seemingly determined to take the traditional story line an characters from an offline campaign to the online world. One way around it is to apparently give each campaign mission its own game mode!

According to producer Drew McCoy , “The campaign plays the levels with their missions in a specific order to tell the story. Each campaign level has its own game mode – it’s not like you’ll play Attrition, then another time you’ll play a different mode. In the campaign, Angel City is Attrition. That’s the story for that level.

“When you first start the game you will play campaign multiplayer, which takes the bits and pieces you’re used to having in single-player, like a story and characters, and big moments that contextualize what you’re doing – we’re putting that into multiplayer.”

Titanfall Coming Early Next Year

Electronic Arts announced that the hybrid first-person shooter will be launched in North America on March 11, 2014.

The European release will be two days later on the 13th.
