Three Themed DLC’s for Battlefield 3 Announced, Coming this Year (2012) + Trailer

Battlefield 3 Dlc Release Battlefield 3 to receive three DLC’s this year.

EA announce three DLC packs for Battlefield 3, includes new weapons and maps

Last year Battlefield 3 got the Back to Karkland expansion, which brought new maps from Battlefield 2 into Dice’s third mainline entry in the franchise. This month, EA have announced that the title is to receive three new expansion packs.

The three expansion packs are Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, coming in June, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill in the fall, and Battlefield 3: End Game in the winter. In the press release, EA said that they want to give players a “completely new experience” with each expansion. EA also shared more details on each pack:

• Battlefield 3: Close Quarters: the first expansion seems to reduce the scope of maps, with this pack bringing vertical gameplay and tight level design to create “a highly competitive environment.” The expansion also introduces new weapons, assignments and dog tags that are used in the core game.

• Battlefield 3: Armored Kill: continuing the themed idea, Armored Kill introduces new vehicles. The expansion will feature new driveable tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more. EA are also promising that Armored Kill will bring the “biggest map in Battlefield history” in the expansion.

• Battlefield 3: End Game: only confirmed to be coming this winter, EA are not sharing specific details on this expansion. However, the “End Game” title certainly sounds ominous.

Executive Producer on Battlefield 3, Patrick Bach, said “we’re giving players a completely new experience with every themed expansion pack.”

EA also revealed the continued success of Battlefield 3, with 12 million units now sold and confirmed it as the fastest selling title in EA’s history.

Close Quarters gameplay

Today DICE and EA also released a gameplay trailer for the first DLC pack, Battlefield 3: Close Quarters.

The trailers confirms that there will be four new, indoor maps that put an emphasis on manic combat (the trailer shows glass shattering everywhere). The trailer also confirmed that the expansion pack will come a week early to the PlayStation 3.

Taking a closer look at the trailer reveals at least some of the weapons that will be coming in the pack: the AUG assault rifle, SPAS-12 shotgun, and SCAR-L all featured in the gameplay.
