The Visual Studio 2015 Product Lineup Gets Unveiled

Visual Studio is a set of programs and products that programmers live and die by, and the announcement of the next version of it gets programmers very excited. On Tuesday, Microsoft finally unveiled the Visual Studio 2015 product line-up, which should please many and delight more.

The major thing that Microsoft is doing, is making the Visual Studio 2015 product in just 3 SKU’s, and this makes it much easier to purchase. The final versions will be available later this Summer according to their post, and the three versions should give many reasons to pick it up.

Three Visual Studio 2015 Versions

The first major item was that Visual Studio Community 2013 will be updated, and released as a free product later this year, and it will be called Visual Studio Community 2015. It will give users the ability to try out Visual Studio 2015, and test it out for their needs and future programs.

Secondly, Microsoft is calling Visual Studio Professional 2013 with MSDN the new Visual Studio Professional 2015 with MSDN. This isn’t as much of a change but should give users a professional entry point. Lastly is the Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 with MSDN, which replaces Premium and Ultimate brands of Visual Studio 2013.

How To Get Visual Studio 2015

Microsoft stated that those who have active subscriptions to Visual Studio Premium or Ultimate, will get the upgrade to Visual Studio Enterprise with MSDN for free. They are lowering the price of Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 with MSDN, and making it easier for enterprises to get Visual Studio 2015.

Microsoft put up the Visual Studio 2015 Product Editions page to show off pricing and promotions, and updated the Visual Studio 2015 CTP 6 to let users test out features. All of this means a better Visual Studio product. They are also soliciting feedback via Connect, Send-A-Smile, and UserVoice channels for their beta versions.

Visual Studio 2015 got a lot easier on Tuesday. Three ediitons mean a simplier Visual Studio 2015 from Microsoft.
