Smart Pricing: Surface RT Tablet Could Sell For As Low As $199
Google’s Nexus and the Kindle Fire are cheap. That’s why we believe Microsoft will either sell the RT tablet for really cheap or come up with a lite-version
Apple could be working on a mini-iPad to compete with Google and Amazon. If Microsoft is smart they will have at least one Surface tablet with a similar price
Engadget sources suggest Microsoft would sell the Surface RT tablet for $199. We already know that the specs of the Surface tablet are very impressive: (specs of RT tablet below)
- Weight: 676g
- 9.mm Thin
- Clear: 10.6″ ClearType HD Display
- Energized: 31.5W-h
- Connectivity: microSD, USB2.0, Micro HD Video, 2×2 MIMI antennae
- Productive: Office Home & Student 2013 RT, TOuch Cover, Type Cover
- Practical: VaporMg Case & Stand
- Configurable 32GB, 64 GB
With the specs in mind it would be awesome if they would sell the RT version for $199, but they might be not be making a big profit on it, however it would help sales of their new Windows store and could be a great marketing move!
Initial rumors about the Surface pricing suggested a retail price of $599 for the 32GB Intel (non-RT) version and we still believe that the high-end tablet could cost that much, but in order to compete with Google and Amazon, Microsoft will have to come up with something cheaper and the mobile RT tablet might be just that: Cheaper.
We’ll make sure to keep you posted on the latest Surface prices.
