Users of Skype on the iPhone and iPad had reasons on Monday to click the update button in the iTunes store, as Skype was updated to give them a ton of new improvements. The update on Monday, gives Skype users even more reasons to use it and show off the power of Skype on their mobile devices.
The Skype version 4.10 released Monday, covers a number of different areas and fixes that the Skype engineers were able to update and fix. The update, now available, is able to be used by many current iPhone and iPad devices, and is free of charge as always on the iTunes Store.
Improvement and Stability
The biggest improvements announced on the Skype blog were about the audio and video call quality and stability improvements. Users on the iTunes Store were quickly posting five star reviews with the update, and it gives users the ability to hear calls better and make calls with less friction.
HD Calls on Iphone 5 and iPad 4
Users can now make HD (720p) quality video calls from their iPhone 5 and iPad 4 devices. The HD video quality video calls were previous unavailable to them, and this gives them high quality video calls around the world in their finger tips. The new and easier to use country code selector on the dialpad was also improved.
iOS 7 Beta Users Addressed
The last part of the notes were focused to iOS 7 users in the beta versions. Stability improvements were made for them, and Skype made it known that they are listening to the iOS 7 beta users and wanting to make fixes for them before the general release of iOS 7.
The Skype update is for iPhone version 4.10 supports: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch (3rd generation), iPod Touch (4th generation), iPod Touch (5th generation) units. Also for the iPad version 4.9 supports: iPad, iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), iPad (4th generation), iPad Mini’s. iOS 5.0 or later is required on all devices to use this Skype update and it is available today.
