Satya Nadella Poised To Become Next Microsoft CEO

It has appeared all throughout the tech world on Thursday, but many are expecting Satya Nadella to be named the next CEO at Microsoft. As head of the cloud and enterprise services division, Satya Nadella could be one of the most powerful tech CEO’s in the world.

The rumors and news surfaced on Thursday on a number of sites, and Bloomberg is the latest to add to the news. In the expected move next week, Microsoft’s board is aiming to make him the next CEO, and possibly removing Bill Gates as Chairman of his own company.

Microsoft Aiming To Name Satya Nadella As Next CEO

Satya In Charge

Satya Nadella, who is only 46, has led the enterprise and cloud businesses within Microsoft, and is a long time employee within the company. He has shifted the companies focus from just a desktop services company, and into several billion dollar businesses within Microsoft. He is also one of the core employees at Microsoft.

Many within Microsoft admire and respect him, as he is an engineer at heart. By bringing in Satya Nadella as the next CEO, Microsoft can shake itself from the Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer era, and into the next decades as an enterprise and cloud company. He joined the company in 1992, and hasn’t stopped since he arrived in Redmond.

Microsoft Eager To Remove Bill Gates As Chairman Of The Company

Gates Out As Chairman?

The surprising move would be to boot Bill Gates as the chairman at Microsoft. While he still is Microsoft’s single largest shareholder, he has dedicated himself to his charity, and not spent much time tinkering at Microsoft. John Thompson, who is a vocal lead independent director could be named chairman with the CEO shift.

John Thompson is also a long time Microsoft employee and has the board’s interest with his efforts. He has led the CEO search, and removing Bill Gates as Chairman at Microsoft could be what the company needs. I’m for it, and it should shake up the company to revitalize itself to the future, versus looking at its past. There is no doubt that Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are important figures at Microsoft, but the company must move forward to please investors and clients.

I’m a fan of both of these moves at Microsoft. Satya Nadella seemed to be my first pick, and Gates needs to retire and move on to his billion dollar foundation in my view.
