Rayman Jungle Run Brings Everything You Loved About Origins For Under One Dollar

Ubisoft’s Rayman Origins was widely praised at the end of 2011, and now the France-based studio is bringing the game to mobile device.

I loved Rayman Origins, surprisingly. I didn’t have an agenda against the game, I was surprised at how good it was. So if Ubisoft approached me and said it is bringing a mobile version of the game focused on the better-than-Sonic-the-Hedgehog speed run, I’d say yes. That’s exactly what Ubisoft is doing.

Releasing September 20 Rayman Jungle Run takes the game engine and art style and the speed running sections while packing it into a package for iOS and Android devices. The trailer is below.

The basic premise is that Rayman begins with a running start; the aim is to finish each level without dying. Therefore you’ll have to time jumping perfectly, indicated by lums no doubt, so higher skilled players will know when to jump and how long for (though don’t hover because it runs the flow, unless it’s briefly tapped).

The game includes four chapters with 10 levels. Each chapters introducing a new ability, Jump, Fly, Wall Run, and Punch, and you’ll have to combine the four abilities to not die in the later levels I imagine. The later levels in Rayman Origins were, well, I won’t say what the level were here.

At the end of levels the lum count and gems are awarded — the latter is an out-of-three rating dependent on your performance. Perfect runs get three gems, so along with not dying I’m guessing players need to collect all the lums.
