Office 365 To Arrive In 3 New SMB Packages

It’s pretty clear that Microsoft is looking to make Office 365 a must have product for business and small business customers, and is courting the enterprise pretty hard. This week, Microsoft announced that they will be offering 3 new SKU’s all geared towards small businesses.

The 3 new Office 365 SKU’s, are scheduled to be available starting October 1, 2014, and are all aimed at small business customers. They offer a variety of Office 365 services and offerings, and are sure to get small businesses interested with a small monthly price overall.

Office 365 Business

By far, the biggest product which businesses, especially small businesses should be interested in, is the Office 365 SKU. It will include all the Office applications, ranging from Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, Word, Publisher, and Excel. It will include installation on up to 5 PC’s and can be Mac’s or PC’s.

What in particular will interest small businesses about this product is the 1 TB of free OneDrive for Business cloud storage, which should suffice for many small businesses. It will be available for only $99 per year, or $8.25 per user per month, which makes this a very good bargain for small businesses from Microsoft.

Essentials and Business Premium

The second Office 365 SKU for small businesses is the Office 365 Business Essentials. This will include Exchange Online, instant messaging and video conferencing via Lync Online, SharePoint Online, the 1 TB of OneDrive for Business, and Yammer support. It’s all available online versus downloadable programs, and is $60 per year or $5 per user, per month.

The third package is the Office 365 Business Premium SKU. This gives up to 5 PC’s or Mac’s the full range of online and downloadable Office apps, and all the offerings of Office 365 Business Essentials. It is aimed for companies who want the online component as well as the local installable program. It will be $12.50 per user per month, or $150 per year. Microsoft put together a chart for small businesses as well to guide them towards the right product for them.

These new Office 365 plans for small businesses are great bargains. Microsoft wants businesses on board with Office 365, and these plans surely will do that quickly.
