IO Interactive are set to take over the latest addition to the Hitman franchise which will be the sixth in the series.
Hitman “6” Is Still Under Development
Fans of the Hitman franchise had to endure a long wait between the last two releases. There was nearly a sixth year gap between Hitman:Blood Money and the release of Hitman: Absolution.
For fans of the series, they will be happy to know that they will not have to wait nearly as long for the next adventure featuring Agent 47, despite Square Enix cancelling the game’s development earlier this month.
This is because production and development has been taken over by developers from IO Interactive and it is expected that they are to introduce a fresh take to the franchise and usher it into a new direction.
Hitman “6” Heading For Next Generation And PC
It’s definitely good news for fans as it means the game will be heading next generation consoles and PC. There is also the possibility of mobile versions as well.
“IO Interactive is developing a new, AAA Hitman game that will be coming to PC and next-gen consoles and Square Enix Montreal is fully focused on mobile development of games some of which are related to the Hitman franchise. We look forward to sharing more details about these titles later this year.”
It must be noted – as of now, we still do not know what the release is called and even less about what the gameplay itself will be like. While Hitman:Absolution was successful-there are many who felt that it did not take the series on as much as it could have.
Will Hitman “6” Be Unveiled At E3 This Year?
The fact that the rumours of the game not been development at all were quickly squashed along with Square Enix proclaiming the release to be a triple A Hitman game all point to a possible unveiling at this year’s E3.
IO Interactive have a great reputation in creating enjoyable and well crafted stealth games so fans of the series can rest assured that Agent 47 is in safe hands.
We will keep you updated once there is any more information to share about the next Hitman.
