Microsoft is clearly showing that its mobile interests are growing, with both its in-house development and its purchase of mobile companies. On Monday, word about the newest probable Microsoft purchase struck, and Wunderlist’s founder 6Wunderkinder GmbH is the next to join Redmond’s reign.
The addition of 6Wunderkinder GmbH would be a $200 million purchase for Microsoft, and add the ever popular Wunderlist app to its arsenal of applications. It would also enhance the mobile power of Microsoft, and show that Windows isn’t the only product in its mobile productivity lineup.
Who Is 6Wunderkinder GmbH?
The company is behind the to-do list app Wunderlist, and is one of the more popular to-do list apps on the mobile market. It’s a fairly comprehensive app, and allows users from novices to experts to put together their to-do lists, gather their needs, and makes it easy to use on any platform.
The app is also available already on the Apple iOS and Android platforms, but not on the Windows Phone platform. This availabilities gives Microsoft a top-selling app that is already out there, and gives them a large spot on the top-seller list as well. It’s based in Berlin but Microsoft can use offshore cash for the deal.
Next Part Of Microsoft Mobile?
Microsoft has already purchased two large mobile companies in the last year, notably Acompli Inc and Sunrise Atelier Inc who makes Sunrise. Microsoft clearly knows that they need to beef up their mobile app inventory, and the addition of Wunderlist will certainly do this, and give them a great company as well.
Microsoft knows that enterprise users love these types of apps as well, and Microsoft can roll Wunderlist into the Office 365 platform, along with Yammer and other applications they currently own. Wunderlist at $200 million is a great deal, and one that Microsoft can utilize fairly cheaply.
