Mario Kart 8 to defy gravity!

Mario Kart 8 will be the newest addition to the long-standing series and the first to be released for the Wii-U.

Nintendo hopes Mario Kart 8 will be a system seller

Mario Kart games have always been a system shifter for Nintendo. It has been one of the most impressive and fun games on every Nintendo system from the SNES right up to Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS.

With the Wii-U sales slumping along then it was no surprise to see Nintendo give the console the boost it so desperately needed by announcing the latest Mario Kart is coming to the system soon.

Get ready to start racing upside down in Mario Kart 8

It would have been easy for Nintendo simply give the series as a HD facelift but at E3 they showed they have added plenty more to the series – including racing upside- down!

Players will battle it out on gravity defying stages that will have racers flying across ceilings and walls in their bid for victory.

One of the tracks shown at E3 was a figure 8 track not too unlike the Luigi Raceway in Mario Kart 64 – except with a little twist. The second half was completely flipped! That seemed a pretty simple idea later on as we saw more adventurous tracks have hidden routes that can only be accessed by riding along ceilings and walls. Gravity – or rather the lack of it – is set to breathe new life into the series!

Online multiplayer confirmed along with a multitude of control options

The incredible success that Mario Kart Wii has been noted and player will be dusting off their little plastic wheels as they remain an option. The gamepad controls will also feature analogue stick precision at the top of a button.

The graphics are incredible and it is set to be the most beautiful and crazy looking game of the series. That tracks shown so far have been great to look at as did the fabulous HD characters from the Nintendo universe.

Gamers will also be hoping that the online multiplayer will be more fleshed out with more gameplay options than previous iterations.

Mario Kart 8 expected to be released next year

All in all the latest Mario Kart looks set to be the most feature ridden, graphically impressive and simply craziest iteration in the series yet.

The game is expected to hit the shelves by early next year.
