Hitman Absolution is coming out soon, but it’s very possible that a new game called Hitman Profession (6th part) is close behind.
Hitman: Profession – Trivial Name, New Developer?
Square Enix the publisher of the Hitman franchise has registered a trademark on Hitman: Profession. This could be the title for their next Hitman game. Some have already criticized the name. Considering that registering trademarks is relatively expensive you can expect that this is more than just a codename or working title.
I’m not a native speaker, so to me this name makes perfect sense and doesn’t sound bad at all, but I agree that it’s really a banality to call the game “Profession”, but simple is not always “bad”.
It is rumored that Eidos Montreal will be developing Hitman Profession. Keep in mind Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman: Contracts, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman Blood Money and Hitman Absolution are all works of IO Interactive, so it would be the first time that another studio would create a Hitman game if I am not mistaken.
We still don’t have a release date for Hitman Absolution, but if IO Interactive will develop Hitman 6 Profession a release date before 2014 is not very likely. However, if Eidos Montreal is working on the game, it’s quite possible that Square Enix is planning to release the game in late 2013 right in time for the holiday season.
We’ll keep you updated on Hitman 6 Profession and when they will announce a release date for Hitman Absolution
