So there seems to be a lot of buzz around the Guild Wars 2 beta weekend, happening today in just a few hours. It’s weird for a MMOG – especially an RPG, given it’s always going to be compared to World of Warcraft – to be generating hype. Anyway, we’ve been playing the game for a while, so here’s a deal from Amazon that you can buy right now and download right now to play … soon.

Basically, to get into the Guild Wars 2 beta weekend you need to pre-purchase. Pre-purchase is pre-ordering, basically, but you’re paying for the game (at least if buying from ArenaNet directly, or a digital distribution service such as Green Man Gaming). Amazon is also offering two deals for latecomers to Guild Wars 2: the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition.

Deals Explained

Both editions get users $5 credit, along with the respective copies of the titles. The Standard Edition includes, well, the game, along with the Hero’s Band that provides multiple benefits: +2 Power, +2 Precision, +2 Toughness, +2 Vitality, +2 Condition Damage, +2% Critical Damage, and +2 Healing; the Digital Deluxe Edition brings the same content as the Standard Edition, along with Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill, Miniature Rytlock pet, Golem Banker, Chalice of Glory, and Tome of Influence. The Hero’s Band will be delivered by the game’s mailing system, which has been represented by an envelope in the top right-hand corner in previous beta weekends.

The Standard Edition is $59.99, while the Guild Wars 2 Deluxe edition is $79.99. If you want the game in a physical copy, the physical Standard Edition is also $59.99 while the Collector’s Edition – it includes a 10-inch figurine of Rytlock, the charr hero players will meet in-game when playing the race – along with other goodies such as the soundtrack and a 112-page Making of Guild Wars 2 art book.
