Heading to Gamescom next month? Square Enix is going to be there

For Europeans, Gamescom is the biggest event we have if attending E3 isn’t an option. Microsoft dealt a blow when it confirmed Halo 4 isn’t at the show – and there’s no confirmation it’s at the Eurogamer Expo, so San Diego Comic-Con may have been the final showing – but Square Enix is going to be there with all of its Final Fantasy goodness.
For consoles there’s Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, set in the realm of Eorzea after it’s been under attack from the Garlean Empire; Hitman: Absolution, which looks like more Hitman from we saw at E3 2012; Tomb Raider, the reboot being pitched as an origin story for Lara Croft; Sleeping Dogs, the open world GTA-esque cop title that almost got cancelled and features voice actors such as Emma Stone; Quantum Conundrum, developed by former Valve and Portal developer Kim Swift; and Final Fantasy VII, as a PC title, and it brings cloud saves and a Character Booster to fully level up characters.
Plenty Of Social Games, If That’s Your Thing
For mobile devices, there’s Final Fantasy Dimensions takes inspiration from the franchise’s roots according to Square Enix; KooZac, a puzzle title played over 15 million times as players try to line blocks on top of each other; Motely Blocks, a puzzle game where players drag objects and release them to create pictures; and Mensa Academy, a brain training game, among other titles.

For more information on Final Fantasy: Reborn, Square Enix says to visit its Facebook page. Enix can be found at booth B051 in hall 7 of the Koelnmesse.
The Final Fantasy VII PC port is underwhelming because the core game is almost identical. I don’t want to play the game just for achievements, even if it’s on Steam. I’d actually be avoiding all of the Final Fantasy content and head for Hitman: Absolution, because it looks awesome. Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider are worth a look, too.
Gamescom runs from August 15-19, 2012, is Cologne, Germany.

Keep in mind, Realm Reborn is a MMO. The original Final Fantasy Online XIV was very unstable, but is now ready for a re-launch. If you always wanted to try a FF MMO, give it another try
