Foursquare Finally Arrives On Windows 8

On Wednesday, one of the biggest social media and presence apps arrived on Windows 8. With Foursquare being finally available on Windows 8

On its Windows Experience Blog on Wednesday, Microsoft formally announced the arrival of Foursquare. Initially announced during its Build conference in June, the first official Foursquare app is available starting today. Users can now download it from the Windows Store.

Last Check-in Displayed Upon Login

When users first log into Foursquare using the Windows 8 app, their last check-in will be displayed right up front. The app will also use your location to show you places of interest near-by, which should help local restaurants and businesses with this launch.

Swipe To Bring Up App Commands

To bring up any of the app commands using Foursquare on Windows 8, users just need to swipe from the bottom or right-check to bring up the app commands according to Microsoft. The commands within Foursquare will bring up list, friends, and check-in abilities for the users who use the app.

Easy Navigation and Usage

One of the biggest points brought with this app is the ease of usage. Places are grouped by what’s trending, you can see these places on a fully interactive map, users can search for a specific or type of place, and then search within that even further if needed. Incredible details are listed about destinations including hours, descriptions, and how many people have checked in to that place, for example a restaurant or sports location.

What Microsoft and Foursquare have brought together with this app release is a very visually stunning application that should please most Foursquare users. It is the first official app by the company, and highlights the beauty and visual qualities of Windows 8. Much like Instagram is still missing from the Windows 8 storefront, now Foursquare makes its initial appearance, and shines. This should be a top ten downloaded app from the Windows Store within a week if it takes that long, and should make Foursquare and Windows 8 a happy marriage for sure.
