World of Warcraft players wanting to get Diablo 3 for free, can through the World of Warcraft Annual Pass. The offer ends 12:01 a.m. PDT May 1, 2012 and, in exchange for the one-year World of Warcraft commitment players make through the Annual Pass, players get Diablo 3 for free and an exclusive World of Warcraft in-game mount – Tyraels’ Charger – and access to the upcoming World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria beta test. More information on the Annual Pass can be found at signup page.

Also, pre-purchasing Diablo 3 downloads an encrypted version of the game that unlocks on May 15.

The Witch Doctor arrives

Yesterday, a new class was also unveiled for Diablo 3: The Witch Doctor. The other four classes are the barbarian, monk, demon hunter and wizard. The Witch Doctor was revealed to bring over elements from other spell-based classes such as the Necromancer, which also raises enemies from the underworld.

The Witch Doctor has some gross, but devastating spells: it can summon poisonous toads, a giant gargantuan which tears through enemies and bats that are on fire. It also has spells, such as Horrify, which do indirect damage to enemies such as making them flee. Other spells cause enemies to attack each other, which could be very powerful if the power can be upgraded to influence more and more enemies.

Diablo 3 is a dungeon crawler, with an almost isometric viewpoint. While the game can be played online, single player is available. Even online, though, players gain individual loots. There is no fighting over what’s dropped.

Diablo 3 launches on May 15.
