Cortana Expands Into More Global Markets
When Windows 10 was launched around the globe, Cortana’s integration with Windows 10 was a big selling point. Microsoft had it in some limited markets to begin, and planned for expansion. On Wednesday, Microsoft announced the expansion of Cortana.
In their Windows Blog post on Wednesday, Microsoft announced that Cortana will be available in more markets and languages. The markets are still going to be limited globally, but Microsoft is doing this to ensure Cortana works as well as can be expected.
Cortana’s Global Instructions
Microsoft is making the newest builds of Cortana available to Windows 10 Insiders at first. It is available via the Windows 10 Insider Preview builds 10532+, and will be an optional download for them. This will make it easier to install.
By making Cortana available exclusively to Windows Insiders, it is making those beta testers essentially guinea pigs for the expanding service. It is being tested extensively in new markets, and Microsoft is leaning on Insiders for their bug reports and news.
Where Is Cortana Expanding?
In their blog post, Microsoft said that Cortana will be expanding as a download to Insiders in Japan, and in English for Insiders in Australia and Canada. This will give those in Japan a personal assistant with Windows 10 to interact with today.
Additionally, Microsoft announced that an early version in English will be available for Insiders in India, which will get a improved voice later this month. This new Indian expansion will get hundreds of millions of users using Cortana with the rollout.
