Combine Rainmeter Skins To Create Windows 7 Sci-Fi Desktop! [XTREME-Tech]
Today we’re going to take a look at a cool collection of Rainmeter skins to create our very own Sci-Fi desktop that will make Windows 7 look extremely cool
1. Step Head over to burnwell88.deviantart.com, vick88.deviantart.com and crucafix.deviantart.com to download their Rainmeter skins
Because the authors do not provide *.rmskins we created them for you so you can save a little time. However, if you want to learn how to create the installers yourself you can find the step by step instructions below. You can download the installers here:
Load Rainmeter Skins (Skip To Next Headline If You Know How This Works)
2. Step Extract all files
3. Step Open the folder tech_a_by-byurnwell and double-click the *.rmskin file
4. Step Now right-click an existing Rainmeter widget and select “Manage skin”
5. Step Uncollapse TECH_A as seen below
6. Step Click the button Load on the right pane for various INI files. You should now have something like this
7. Step If you also want a similar horizontal bar, check out the Skyrim Rainmeter skin
Creating Your Own Rainmeter Package (Missing RMSKIN Installer)
Important: Some Rainmeter skin authors do not create those nifty .rmskin installers. In that case we have to build our own installer, but it can be done in less than 5 minutes, simply follow the steps below
8. Next copy the folder FlyAway that we extracted from the archive FlyAway_for_rainmeter_by_crucafix.rar to the default location of all Rainmeter skins as seen below
9. Step Open Rainmeter and click the button “create rmskin package”
Click the button Add skin…
Enter some author information
Select a location where you want to save the Rainmeter package to and select Load skin after installation
Select a minimum Windows version e.g. Windows 7
Next go to your desktop and double-click the file FlyAway_1.0.rmskin if you followed the steps precisely
Load More Skins: Be Creative!
Next, simply follow the example above and load more Rainmeter widgets but this time from the skin FlyAway
Load a couple elements:
I loaded:
- Battery, Bookmark, CPU and RAM, Custom Clock and Date, Drive, Hard Drive, Network Address, Taskbar.ini
Next, install the Dark Glass skin in the same way as we installed the other skin. If you do not want to bother with that, you can download the files at the top
We added a few more skin widgets from Dark Glass and this is the final result
This is the final result:

The wallpapers are from our Planetside 2 theme which you can download here

If you have some spare time we would appreciate a screen of your own final result. Be creative!
If you want a neat horizontal bar that matches the cyan color of Planetside 2 then try this little skin we created as well
