Activision has now confirmed the release date for Call of Duty 7. Well, they did not reveal the exact day, but they confirmed that the successor of Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 will hit the shelves this year. We can also expect another November release!
The release of Call of Duty has been announced yesterday by CEO Mike Griffith during an earnings call where Activision presented the final results of the year 2009.
While Activision does not expect that Call of Duty 7 Vietnam will be as successful as Call of Duty 6, they predict further growth of the successful Call of Duty franchise. Of course, Activision tries to bring down the expectations to a reasonable level. What could possibly top CoD6? CoD6 earned more than $1.3bn last year and is selling like hotcakes. 2009 was (due to the success of Call of Duty) the most successful year in the history of Activision!
Considering that Call of Duty 6 was released on November 10th 2009, we can expect that the release of Call of Duty 7 will be close or maybe even on that specific day. Let’s hope that Treyarch will do a good job and develop a worthy successor.
