Ubisoft’s announcement trailer for Assassin’s Creed III shows how to assassinate a redcoat

Ubisoft release their debut trailer for Assassin’s Creed III as the next assassin – Connor – does battle in the American Revolution
Along with a press release, and the recent leaks, Ubisoft have released a debut trailer for Assassin’s Creed III.
In the trailer we see a Bald Eagle flying over a vast landscape, and our assassin navigating snowy forests, taking down British soldiers in typically silent fashion. As the British redcoats prepare to do battle with the Americans, the trailer closes with the protagonist looking over a cliff edge as both sides prepare to charge at each other.
The accompanying press release says that players will get to experience the “American Revolutionary War not written about in history books.” Ubisoft also describe this as the “largest project” in their history.
The press release goes on to say that the game has been in development for over three years, and has twice the production capacity of any previous Ubisoft title.
Game Set In 18th Century: American Revolution
The game is set in 18th century, during the American Revolution. The hero in Assassin’s Creed III is confirmed to be called Ratohnhake:ton, of both Native American and English background (known as Connor in the game). He is described as the “voice for justice” against Assassins and Templars. The press release also confirmed that the game runs throughout the Revolutionary War, taking gamers across many environments. Players will also see George Washington’s Continental Army, who clashed with the the British Army.
Ubisoft have also confirmed that the game is running on a new engine, called Ubisoft-AnvilNext. The engine delivers a “breakthrough in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence.” The game’s graphics will be so ground-breaking, that they will bring “Colonial America” to life.
Ubisoft also announced their will be a tie-in app available on the iPad, called Assassin’s Creed Recollection. This will feature new artwork from the game.
Game Informer also released some details regarding the title. They said that target locking has now been removed. Players are able to use human shields and other “context sensitive moves.” There are secondary attacks, such as the one-shot pistol by pressing the Y button.
Assassin’s Creed III is set to be released on October 31, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.
