GTA V could be heading for a 2013 release instead of a 2012 release.
GTA V’s release date could be edging closer to 2013, as analysts predict that Rockstar will want time to polish
With no release date confirmed for Grand Theft Auto V as of yet, analysts continue to predict when the much-anticipated title will launch. The latest round of predictions set the release date at 2013, not 2012.
The predictions come from analyst group Sterne Agee, despite originally saying the game will arrive in 2012. Sterne Agee had previously said that the title would launch in the third quarter of this year.
The reason for a revised March 2013 release is due to a number of reasons: first, there will be less competition against the Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed releases this year. Second, they said that a 2013 release would give the company time to polish and to launch on the Wii U.
Last year the same analyst group had also predicted that GTA V could sell 25 million units in its first year on sale.
Despite originally predicting that the title would see around 17 million units sold in its first year, due to “significant upside potential” for the title.
However, the 25 million figure was touted as GTA IV sold 17 million units in its first year on sale. GTA IV released in a relatively early stage of this generations lifecycle: the Xbox 360 and PS3 install base is expected to be significantly higher than where is was when the last Grand Theft Auto title was released.
The reasoning behind this is if 90% of users who bought GTA IV buy GTA V, and 10% of the install based buy GTA V, then sales would surpass 20 million units.
GTA V map leaked
There were also, recently, a round of leaks that apparently game directly from GTA V.
The first was an in-game screenshot of the world map. While the interface look similar to GTA IV’s, which caused seem people to disclaim the ‘leak,’ features such as the golf course in the trailer were shown in the map.
Along with the picture of the world map, there was an in-game screenshot of a character from the game.
GTA V has no confirmed release date.
