Yay, it’s finally out! Now that Windows 7 is finally available in stores, Microsoft re-designed their websites. The starting page is now green and filled with quotes of Twitter users.
Microsoft will open a “Windows Café” in Paris on the date Windows 7 will be released. They are also opening several offline stores in the US this fall, right next to the Apple stores. Stores in other countries are also planned.
They plan to have a “Guru Bar” in their stores so that people can get professional help with their products whenever they need it.

Google has been working on a new OS for a while now – Google Chrome OS.

By now the download has been removed by Google. Google’s OS might become pretty popular – it might become the first choice for netbooks!
While Windows 7 is about to be released, Windows Mobile 7 is still in development. It’s Microsoft’s chance to make a really decent mobile Windows. The release date has been pushed back to 2010 (was supposed to be late 2009) by now, the expectations are high.
Windows 7 is about to launch. For new Wndows 7 users it might be interesting to find out if your hardware will be supported by Windows 7. As a rule of thumb, you can say that everything that worked on Vista will also work on Windows 7.
To simply the process of finding incompatible hardware, there’s a official compatibility test site from Microsoft. This site allows you to quickly find out what will run on your system and what not.

Ok, if you are living in the US you might have already seen it. I’m talking about the Windows 7 commercials on TV.
To be honest, I’m not a big fan of those commercials. In the very first spot they showed on TV they combined some quotes from popular sites like ZDNet, a random Chinese girl “Kylie”, “cute” animals (rabbit, unicorn, cat) and “The Final Countdown” from Queen. What the hell? A disaster!
Do I really have to explain what WindowBlinds is? Most people will know that it’s the best utility for windows themes. Stardock’s WindowBlinds is probably one of the biggest sources for Windows XP, Vista and soon Windows 7 themes. Many of the best themes that you will find online are for WindowBlinds. Without it you can’t apply them.
WindowBlinds 7 is in beta now and will support Windows 7.

Yesterday, Microsoft released a 90-day free trial of Windows 7 Enterprise.
The trial is fully operational, so there are no features missing. So, where’s the catch? The supplies are intended for IT professionals, but basically anyone is eligible to receive a copy. If they don’t run out of keys the download should be available until March 31, 2010. There are limited supplies, but considering that they say it’s available until 2010 makes me believe that they are giving away *a lot* of them and it’s just an attention grabber. Another decent move of Microsoft to enter the freebie market again. This is the first time in their company history that they are giving away a real trial of a fully functional Windows.

Microsoft plans to release Windows 8 in 2012. It looks like Microsoft hasn’t made a final decision what the name of the next OS is going to be.
A roadmap revealed that Windows 8 is the “codename”. If there had been a final decision that Windows 8 will be called Windows 8, then it would simply state 2012: Windows 8. Makes sense, right?
