XBOX 720 Rumors: New XBOX To Be Unveiled At E3 2012

Yep, the Wii U will be out next year. What better timing to unveil a successor for the XBOX 360 or the PS3? Exactly. From June 5th to June 7th 2012, we might get a glimpse of the upcoming XBOX gaming console.

XBOX 720 rumors

10 Year Life-cycle

The first XBOX console was release on November 15, 2001. The XBOX 360 was released in November 2005. Microsoft states the life-cycle of their XBOX is 10 years, which means they plan to support the XBOX 360 until roughly 2015.

But that doesn’t mean Microsoft won’t release a new XBOX generation before 2015. With the Wii U coming out next year and Sony close behind, Microsoft needs to make sure they won’t fall behind.

According to EU-XBOX boss Chris Lewis, the XBOX 720 could be released sooner than expected (before the end of the 10-year life cycle).

It is rumored that the new XBOX has been in development since 2006. The last E3 2011 rumors mentioned a release date somewhere between 2012 and 2014.
