Windows Patchday: 11 Updates vs. 25 security flaws
As mentioned earlier, today is Microsoft’s monthly patchday. Today they are releasing 11 new Windows updates for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 2000, Windows 7, as well as Windows Server 2003 and 2008. Those updates will close 25 security holes, 5 of them marked as important.
One of the security holes gave hackers the ability to run malicious code on a remote machine. Another bug in the SMB protocol allowed hackers to crash machines in a LAN and was identified as a so called zero-day exploit back in November 2009. A security hole involving VBScript will be closed as well.
So, overall this is an important Windows update that every Windows user should download. If you don’t want to download those updates over and over again or if you don’t want to to install the updates online, you should consider downloading AutoPatcher.
