Windows 8 x64 Enterprise Build 7959 M3 ISO Leaked
Another week, another Windows 8 leak. Windows 8 64-bit Build 7959 “Enterprise” leaked onto the various torrent sites. It’s the first Enterprise build that leaked.
The full build name: 6.2.7959.0.fbl_srv_wdacxml.110307-1930. As you can see the build was compiled about 2 months ago, so it’s a very new build, but obviously still a M3 build. The branch however is fbl_srv_wdacxml and not the winmain branch. The difference between the two branches is that fbl_srv_wdacxml bra includes kernel debugging tools. If you are interested in debugging Windows 7, read this, that also should give you a clue how to use the debugging tools in Windows 8.
Let’s take a look at the Windows 7 development timeline
Development of Windows 7 began when Windows Vista was released. Milestone 1, Milestone 2, and Milestone 3 were sent to Microsoft’s partners in 2008. In October 2008, Microsoft gave build 6801 to PDC attendees and a public beta was released in January 2009. The release candidate was available from April 30, 2009
Microsoft already confirmed that the PDC will take place from September 13-16 in Anaheim, Calif. Back in 2009 the PDC was in November, so we’re about 2 months ahead, which makes a mid 2012 Windows 8 release date very likely. However, the build that leaked is a sever build and the new Windows server edition might be released later than the new Windows 8.
