Windows 8 Demo @ D9 Conference (Video!)
Yesterday, Microsoft demoed an early version of Windows 8 at the D9 Conference in San Francisco.

Windows 8 attempts to go boldly where no other OS has ever gone before. Microsoft has a cool preview video for us. Let’s check it out:
Obviously, Windows 8 will have a lot more touch-screen features than Windows 7 has. Windows 8 closely resembles the ultra modern Windows Phone 7 UI. The so called Metro UI is a smart way to present a lot of information on very little virtual estate.
If the performance and overall user experience of Windows 8 and its touchscreen capability is not top-notch and working 100% flawlessly, Windows 8 might fail to convince end users and business users alike. However, Microsoft still has a lot of time to get rid of possible bugs here and there. Windows 8 is scheduled for 2012, as Ballmer pointed out previously, but I wouldn’t mind a delay if they can make Windows 8 even better.
Microsoft will release more details about Windows 8 at the PDC 2011. Until then, there might be a few leaks and there – the usual game.
