Windows 8 Is Designed To Be Power Efficient On All Devices

Microsoft recently posted on the Building Windows 8, talking about how Windows 8 is going to be power efficient no matter where it runs. The blog post says that Windows 8 is designed to be power efficient on all hardware. This allows Windows 8 to be energy efficient on everything — from a laptop to a tablet and smartphone. They have attempted to standardize power saving procedures within the OS itself. This in turn is implemented wherever the OS is running. Microsoft says that it was one of the most important parts that they focused on during the development period.

Intelligent Power Saving Features Inside Windows 8

Windows 7 was huge power saver in comparison to earlier Windows versions. With Windows 8, Microsoft has managed to keep the power usage at the same level while adding more features to the OS. This is an accomplishment because earlier versions of Windows have usually required more power to run than their predecessors.

Windows 8 has also adopted the smartphone/handheld device module for power saving. These devices are designed to quickly switch between low-power and active states in order to maximize battery capabilities. Microsoft wants to utilize the same functions in Windows 8 and make it use less power wherever it is running.

So far, desktop focused OS’ have been designed without tight power saving features in mind. Laptops have usually had their own special power saving features to work with the OS. Now, Microsoft has been focusing on bringing the best of all device types in to Windows 8. This is also because Windows 8 will have to run all of those devices.
