Well of course microsoft is not sleeping and is already developing a successor of Vista.
Vista introduced a new rendering system, very cool graphics (the reason why I started this blog actually) and an improved and more secure kernel, what’s up next?
A chinese blogger released some leaked screenshots of Windows 7 M3 Build 6780 and the IE8. Be aware that those screenshots are from a Windows 7 that is not even in beta yet, although there are rumors that there will be a beta this december. Do not judge too fast, that’s my recommendation for today. At the moment there is quite a hype about Windows 7, because many people were frustrated with Vista and even downgraded to XP. Many people are now expecting that Microsoft releases a Windows that is a “worthy “successor.
Since those Windows 7 screenshots are now available to anyone anyway I will show you a few of the good ones. Should there be any problem with that I will take them off as soon as possible.
It seems Microsoft is polishing the good old paint and wordpad, they both use the Microsoft Office 2007 UI now. Tabs seem to be more common in Windows 7 applications.
Uh oh.. applications, are there any new? Yes, for example a PowerShell for developers and advanced users.
There is now a light version of the WMP, which is eating less resources:
In the media player above you can also see the improved “sticky notes” gadget. I clearly like this gadget and it is good that they try to improve it. It’s simply annoying that you are only able to add 10 notes on a very small digital paper in Vista, hopefully this gadget will be more user-friendly in Windows 7.
Overall there are 37 screenshots, mainly of the IE8, which you can download here.
Obviously this is not everything and there will a lot more to report about, that’s why I am going to keep an eye on the development of Windows 7 and will keep you updated. If you want to get notified of new posts, simply subscribe to the feed. Sooner or later I will also launch windows7themes.net, so stay tuned for that as well!
