Windows 7 Backup Utility: Hotfix Released

    Share

Did you know that Windows 7 has a built-in Backup utility? If you plan to use it, make sure to download this hotfix – it will save you a lot of time and trouble. And here’s how to schedule a backup in Windows 7.

Windows 7 Backup Utility

Apparently, there’s a small bug in the backup utility. Whenever you start a second backup and it is larger than the first backup, then it will take significantly longer to backup the data.

Example:

1. You backup 10GB of data
2. You backup another 11GB of data, then the backup will take a lot longer than the first backup, even if it’s only 1GB more

If you have any other problem with the backup utility you can still apply this hotfix, but it will only fix the problem above.

The hotfix will be included in SP1. You can download the hotfix via the Windows Update center. Hotfix name: Fix334160
