Will Windows 8 Finally Support 3rd-Party Themes?
The reasons why Windows 7 does NOT officially support 3rd-party themes are obvious, the support requests would never stop coming in. But could Windows 8 support 3rd-party themes?

In Windows 7 all you need to enable 3rd-party themes is to grab the UXTheme patcher that will patch a few DLL files and allow you to install 3rd-party themes.

However, all it would really take for Microsoft to implement support for 3rd-party themes is a simple checkbox with a disclaimer that enabling 3rd-party themes is something you’d do on your own risk and that it could result in an unstable system.
On the one hand, it really doesn’t take a lot of time to patch your theme DLL files. On the other hand, you always have to patch the theme files again after every “system file check”. If Windows 8 is going to be cross-platform compatible, thanks to ARM, I could imagine that patching the files becomes even more troublesome, but also a lot more interesting to a broad range of users (mobile and desktop users).
What do you think? Is this something Microsoft should consider? Or is it something you couldn’t care less about? After all, there will most likely be a patcher around anyway.
