Will 2012 be the release date for Nintendo’s Wii 2?  According to the latest rumors, the Wii 2 will be unveiled at the E3 and will be released in 2012. The full scoop after the break.

GameInformer has now confirmed that a new Nintendo console will be shown at the E3 2011 this year. The E3 isn’t too far away, it will start on June 7th.

Wii 2 with full HD support?

The Wii 2 will compete with Microsoft’s best-selling gadget Kinect. Many rumors say that the Wii 2 will support HD graphics and will be capable of producing very high-quality graphics. Well, that is until Microsoft unleashes the XBOX 720, which they are currently working on.

So, I assume that Nintendo fans will have to wait another year for their Wii 2, while XBOX and Playstation fans still have to wait another 2 years at the very least. Or who knows, maybe Microsoft and Sony will both reveal their next-gen consoles at the E3 as well?
