Where to find coal in Minecraft?


If you are new to Minecraft, one of the first things you will want to do is to create torches. For torches you will need coal, but where is all the coal in Minecraft?

How to find coal?

Coal is often hidden deep underground. However, coal is still pretty close to the surface in comparison to lava and gold. Often, you will also find coal near some hills, but not always.

Dig deep and build a house!
So my tip for all Minecraft beginners is to start digging once you have pickaxe. Dig a little deeper then go sideways to find the coal. You might be lucky.. or not. If you are not lucky, make sure that you are well protected. For a beginner it might be a little frustrating to die so quickly during the nights, that’s why it is important to have a little house for protection.

Torches in Minecraft

Torches give you a lot of protection from random mobs spawning in the dark, so they’re pretty useful! I like to have like 15 torches on me so I can put them wherever I’m digging. I still randomly get a few mobs attacking me from behind, but that doesn’t happen a lot if you put torches everywhere!
