Due to corrupt bookmarks, Mozilla introduced a sqllite filesystem for storing cookies, authentication, bookmarks and the like. That’s how they avoid corrupt bookmarks. Plus Mozilla makes backups of your bookmarks.

Firefox bookmarks location

Go to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[string].default\

In there open places.sqlite with a notepad editor to see your bookmarks. You need to backup the places.sqlite file! The old bookmarks.html no longer exists.

How to delete my Firefox bookmarks?

Deleting your bookmarks can help you to speed up Firefox. However, in order to delete your bookmarks it is not sufficient to delete the places.sqlite file, you also need to delete the backup files or Firefox will automatically restore a backup! Sneaky, huh?

So, delete the entire folder C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[string].default\bookmarkbackups as well
