Windows 7 beta RC ( as i am using atm) is what vista was supposed to be. What happened to vista…i dunno. I can only speculate that the programers were more into playing x-box32 and smoking crack then producing a viable OS.

Glad to see they put down the crack pipe for win 7

I am running the 64 bit for my machine, it’s not as stable as the 32 bit.. occationaly programs stop working. since that never happened in 32 bit, then i can assume it is 64 bit version with some bugs..but hey, what do ya want for free am i right ?

If you are thinking of upgrading from XP ( or beyond) BUY WINDOWS 7!
though myself, I don’t prefer to “upgrade” I prefer a fresh install.

Great to hear that your x64 is running fine. I wanted to switch to x64 since Vista but didn’t switch because I was never able to find a good x64 firewall :/
I’d recommend using Google Chrome instead of IE8 by the way. Firefox can be a memory hog sometimes, has the best extensions thou.

Hmm, I should try Avast too.
On Vista I switched from Norton to Avira, never had any real problems thou.

I also have to admit that this is a huge improvement on Vista. Not all aplications get a performance boost but it is definately worth it for the one’s that do (Open gl especially has seen a big boost).
I’m running Avast and have had no problems whatsoever.
They have also spruced up alot of the programs that come with windows eg: paint and the calculator. Much nicer colour scheme too.

Well Done Microsoft.

Hay, been testing for about two months and it is good, but like said above IE8 is buggy, to say the least. Well if you don’t mind the internet thing (use firefox or something) then it is 200% better then vista in all ways.
It not only performs good but makes my hardware perform better, scores when up in “system” about .3 – 1.0 which was almost imposable to do even with overclock in vista?? So it overclocks itself for sure!

I also like the new fell, not totaly new but nice and differnet, like a little brother of vista, lol.

Most programs get a boost even things like utorrent do excelent in “7″. I use “7″ for just about everything. Only thing is, that virus protection is limited to “AVG, Kespersky or Norton” so that is a disapointment for me but Kespersky works best so far!!

I am running x64 so just to let you know most programs are compatable from vista but the new software “checker” will not allow many apps to be used. Such include “bitdefender” “logmein” and other internet related programs.

So far I like it much better than Vista. Everything is faster overall (except IE8 thats the weak point), cool effects, etc. Very nice.
