Tutorial: How To Use Skyrim Mod Manager by Nexus
If you are wondering how to use the Skyrim mod manager by Nexus, here’s a great video that explains it.
The advantage of the Skyrim mod manager is obvious, you don’t have to mess around with installing mods manually. You download a mod and the mod manager can do the chores for you.
1. Download the Skyrim Mod manager
2. Install the Nexus mod manager.
3. If you get an error, see bottom
4. Launch Firefox (no Chrome) and visit skyrimnexus.com. Log into the site or register for a new account
5. Once logged in you can see a new green button Download with manager:
6. You will get a message that the link has to be opened with a program, select the Skyrim mod manager:
7. Switch back to the Mod manager and go to the tab Download Manager. You will now see this:
8. Once the manager has downloaded the mod open the tab Mods, select the Mod you just downloaded and it will start installing it automatically.
9. That’s it – launch Skyrim using the Launch button and you’re good to go.

Unable to get write permissions for C:\Games\Skyrim\Install Info
If you get the error Unable to get write permissions for C:\Games\Skyrim\Install Info:
Follow the instructions below. What I did to fix the error was simply create a folder D:\Games C:\Games and then the Skyrim mod manager was able to copy files into the folder and everything worked flawlessly.
This error happens when you are running Windows Vista or late, and have put Nexus Mod Manager’s Install Info folder in the Program Files folder. You need to do one of the following:
1. Disbale UAC (not recommended)
2. Move Nexus Mod Manager’s Install Info folder outside of the Program Files folder (for example, to C:Games\ModManagerInfoInstall Info).
3. Run nexus Mod Manager as administrator. You can try this by right-clicking on Nexus Mod Manager’s shortcut and selecting Run as administrator. Alternatively, right-click on the shortcut, select Properties->Compatibility and check Run this program as administratorThe best thing to do in order to avoid other problems, and the generally recommended solution, is to Move Nexus Mod Managers Install Info folder outside of the Program Files folder.

I really need your help. I downloaded the nexus mod manager and I opened it with admin. I registered and when I checked my email it wasn’t there even after a few hours theres no email. I even tried to register again after my account got deleted for not activating it.
Please contact the guys from nexus, we can’t help you here. I would register a new mail at google or hotmail and try again
How can I change the default skyrim launch location? I cant change the option in the settings. it says it requires an application restart but i cannot figure out how to do it and have thew changes stick.
RE: the bottom notes about the permissions error. Did you create 2 files? Such as one that was C:/Games and another that was D:/Games? Or one folder that had C:/Games D:/Games as the title? Sorry for the dumb question but I am not very computer savvy and to me, it wasn’t obvious.
I am seeing that running Fallout directly from nexus mod manager helps the Games For Windows interface from messing with the mods I have installed.
Is there a way to make a shortcut on the desktop to “Launch Game” in Nexus Mod Manager?
i can’t find the ‘install info’ folder anywere on my computer i am running windows 7 ultimate.
I have the same problem as Jack does can anyone help? I really want to play Skyrim modded, I have finished the min quests (Alduin, The Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guiild, etc) and its really boring without mods.
I had the same problem as Jack, what I did was create a new folder for my computer, named it Games, then I moved Nexus mod manager to that peticular folder. THats all I did and it works for me now.
