Creators of a fan-made teaser trailer for a rerelease of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask are reportedly talking to Nintendo, pitching a project.

You may have seen an awesome fan-made trailer for a Majora’s Mask HD release, and it could become a reality

Just before Nintendo’s E3 conference, a fan-made trailer went live on the web which showed Majora’s mask in stunning CGI. It was a tease on what could happen, though Nintendo never talked about the game during its conference, but the creators of the video are talking to a company they call Big N.

Big N can only be Nintendo: The Legend of Zelda is obviously a Nintendo property. Fans have requested the game be released, but on the 3DS. Video game blog GamerGirlTay spoke to the creators of the video – Pablo Belomnte and Paco Martinez – who said they are creating a proposal for the Big N company.

A rerelease on the Wii U might be surprising; whether it would be a HD package, or more of a reworking like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, is unknown.

Majora Mask N64 Could Get Rerelease On Wii U

It would certainly be a killer app for the Wii U if it releases around launch. Ocarina of Time 3D released when the 3DS sales were lagging, and began the kickstart sales push that was later followed by Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. The Wii U is lacking killer launch titles, outside of a possible launch release of New Super Mario Bros. U and Pikmin 3.

3D Zeldas Dated?

It would be fantastic if Nintendo didn’t do just a HD package, and rebuilt the game. Maintaining Belmonte and Martinez would help to keep their vision on board. The duo also said the video was completed within a week, and the music is provisional.

As far as other Legend of Zelda remakes, Shigeru Miyamoto has spoke about creating a Link to the Past sequel for 3DS. The top-down view of Zelda games hasn’t been explored since The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and some of the best titles – Link’s Awakening and Minish Cap – follow the 2D route.

Personally speaking, though, I think the game would be more suited for a 3DS release. I think the Wii U needs original titles.
