Are you going to buy Windows 7 ? This is our current poll. The majority of our users plans to buy Windows 7 asap (so far).

Remember, according to ZDNet the current release date is the 23rd october. My advice for XP owners: You should buy Vista in June and upgrade during the slow summer months to be prepared. Why? Simply, because a jump from XP to Windows 7 won’t be hassle-free and you will get a free Windows 7 copy if you buy Vista.

According to ZDnet it is going to be the  23rd of October. Vice-president Massimo D’Angelo of Acer told David Meyer ( ZDnet UK) that their new “All-in-one” PC would go on sale that day – including Windows 7 technology.

The results of our last poll? 115 out of 207 voters think that Windows 7 is a very convincing beta. 40 beta-testers decided that it was a pretty good job for a beta.

21 people see great potential in Windows 7, while 15 of our voters were greatly surprised that Windows 7 turned out to be better than they expected.

10 gurus are more than convinced that Windows 7 should have been Vista SE and 6 linux geeks claim Windows 7 is a complete fail.

According to TechARP.com all systems (running Windows Vista OR Windows XP) that are purchased between June 2009 and January 2010 will have an optional Windows 7 upgrade.

On top of that, Windows 7 buyers will have the option to downgrade to either Windows Vista (why would you do that?) or Windows XP.

Yep, that’s the current price for a pirated Windows 7 copy in the Philippines.

Of course Microsoft knows about pirated copies, but there is not much they can do about it. If they would sell Windows 7 for a fair individual price for low-wages countries, people would probably start importing Windows 7 because it would be a legal copy. That’s why they simply ignore low-wages countries and do not try to stop software pirates.

They still managed to sell more than 140,000,000 legal copies of Windows Vista!

According to the German gamer magazine “PCGamesHardware” the Windows 7 retail prices are as follows:

• Windows 7 Starter Edition – 199,95 US-Dollar
• Windows 7 Home Premium – 259,95 US-Dollar
• Windows 7 Professional – 299,95 US-Dollar
• Windows 7 Ultimate – 319,95 US-Dollar

Overall there are going to be 5 different editions:

• Windows 7 Starter
• Windows 7 Home Basic
• Windows 7 Home Premium
• Windows 7 Business
• Windows 7 Ultimate

Supposedly the Windows 7 Home basic edition will cost approx. $225.

Those prices are for the retail editions. Obviously bundled editions (system builder editions) are going to be a lot cheaper. Microsoft did not verify the prices yet. As usual you will get the latest news about it here.
