Starcraft 2: Closed Beta This Month!
As we previously expected, Blizzard is not only preparing the launch of Battle.net 2.0, but also working hard to start closed beta tests of Starcraft 2. This has now been officially confirmed during an earnings call (press reference), where Activision CEO Mike Griffith also confirmed a Call of Duty 7 release in 2010.
During their presentation, a slideshow revealed that Acitivions plans to start beta tests this month:

The community manager of Blizzard also let slip that they plan a worldwide simultaneous release of the beta!
Should you be subscribed to Blizzard beta-tests via Battle.net, you will be notified via mail.
Another detail that might be interesting is that Blizzard will allow players to download Starcraft 2 via Battle.net (games on demand service), so that you can start right away when the game will be released.
