Rumor: Windows 8 Beta Start Date Real Soon

Rumors are that Microsoft will start the first Windows 8 beta real soon. Possibly this week during the BUILD conference

What we already know is that Microsoft will give out a working prototype of Windows 8 – a pre-release version for developers. As stated by Sinofsky on the Building Windows 8 blog, many features will be missing in this Windows 8 pre-release version , however it will give us a first impression of what to expect in the future.

Ribbon UI in Preview Release?

Microsoft received a lot of criticism for implementing a Ribbon UI into the Windows explorer; it will be interesting to see if they changed this in the pre-release version.

TechNet subscribers and Public beta

The pre-release version might also be the version that will be made available to registered TechNet users and beta testers.

We will make sure to keep you posted on the Windows 8 beta start date and when it will become available to TechNet subscribers and the general public.
