Release Date for Windows 7 SP1?
More details about a possible beta in April emerge. So, the release the date for Windows 7 SP1 could be sooner than expected (we currently expect a release in October/November as reported previously).
35 New Windows 7 SP1 Builds!
Microsoft is hard at work: 35 Windows 7 SP1 builds have been compiled between January and March. According to WZOR he could leak Windows 7 SP1 builds ranging from 7601.16482.100111-1800 to build 7601.16518.100302-1530. We assume that there are two more Windows 7 SP1 winmain_sp branch builds by now. Wzor says that it wouldn’t make sense to release any of them because you’d be building every 2nd day and that would be a waste of time.
Windows Activation Technologies included in Windows 7 SP1
Furthermore, Wzor states that the pre-beta builds already contain Windows 7 update KB971033, which includes Windows Activation Technologies that is designed to block any pirated copies of Windows 7. DELL, HP, Lenovo assume that SP1 will block all of the OEM keys
Release Date for Windows 7 SP1 Beta
The current release date for Windows 7 SP1 “signed” beta is expected to be mid-April. The release date for the final Windows 7 SP1 is expected to be October/November, although an earlier release wouldn’t be a surprise (many companies are still waiting for SP1 before they upgrade)
