Microsoft announced that Project Natal will be available shortly before the Christmas holidays. At the CES 2010, Microsoft released a new trailer of Project Natal.

Project Natal CES 2010

Project Natal is 50% hardware and 50% software innovation. It basically creates a virtual 3D skeleton of your body with the help of a camera. Natal can evaluate all of your body movements at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.
It’s pretty impressive, Natal evaluates your movements, calculates the position of your ankles, transforms your movements into 3D and then renders it – all in real time!

Considering that Sony’s Motion Controller “Gem” will be available in Spring 2010 and Nintendo’s new Wii Vitality Sensor will be out soon, Microsoft will release their own motion controller relatively late in 2010, but it looks very promising so far.
