Picture of the Week: The Book of Eli vs. Fallout

The movie with Denzel Washington has many similarities with the game Fallout. Fallout itself is based on a movie (A Boy and His Dog, trailer inside). So, now there is an inofficial Fallout movie, awesome!

The Book of Eli vs. Fallout

The Book of Eli will hit theaters January 15, 2010. It’s the very first mega-blockbuster of 2010 that you shouldn’t miss.

A reader of Kotaku.com noticed the many similarities and created the picture.

Without this film there would probably be no Fallout nor The Book of Eli.

Just a small correction, but Fallout’s influences came from a number of postapocalyptic books, games and movies, of which A Boy And His Dog is definitely not the most important one.

The primary influence of Fallout is a computergame called Wasteland, to which Fallout was the spiritual successor. It also takes a lot of elements from Mad Max and infuses that with the 50s paranoia and fear for the A Bomb. This amalgam of influences were the building stones of one of the best rpg franchises ever. :)

hi i was looking for a desktop theme for my computer and came across this page. looks good. what i wanna comment on is. if you pay attention in the book of eli when eli is staying in his “guest” room. above his head on the wall by his bed is a “a boy and his dog” poster. now it was also never said ShadyGuy that it was the most important, he was saying without it they might not have happened. which is true it is one of the first post apocalyptic movies. I would also like to say that The Fallout games used a lot more then mad max, and 50′s paranoia, by far. C’mon they have the random encounter of the whale and flower pot. i personally am a lil disappointed in fallout three because baethesda made it too much like oblivion… the fast travel… going to unknown locations that was part of it with the random encounters! oh well i’m done rambeling sorry!

I think a Fallout movie would have to have super mutants and ghouls. Even A Boy and his Dog had glowing ones.

And why bitch about fast travel? Don’t use it if you don’t like it. You have the power.
