Panasonic Toughbook C2 Windows 8 Notebook Now Available
Panasonic’s Military Grade Notebook Updates To Windows 8
Panasonic’s Toughbook is famous for being extremely hardy and meeting military grade hardness standards. This line has just received a brand new semi-rugged version called the C2 that comes with Windows 8. The C2 is not just a Windows 8 Toughbook, it is a convertible Windows 8 Toughbook.
It comes with an Intel third generation Core series processor and has enough battery to last for 11 hours on a single charge. Panasonic has announced it as a notebook that is suitable for those in medicine, field sales and IT departments inside enterprises. It runs a 64bit version of Windows 8 and there’s an option for Windows 7 Professional (in case your company is one of those that are not upgrading to Windows 8 right away).
- The Intel Core i5-3427U vProTM multi-core processor has a clock speed of up to 2.8GHz with Turbo Boost overclocking technology.
The display has a 5-point capacitive touchscreen and is 12.5inches diagonally. It has a brightness of 500 ANSI lumens. But the best part about this display is that it is daylight readable, which is what makes it so very apt for field use by professionals. It has an anti-reflective layer on top to help with the glars and uses an IPS LCD panel that gives the user a wide viewing angle.
- The touchscreen is also digitizer-ready, so you can use a digital pen to write and draw on the tablet and also to operate it. It also has signature capture.
It has a rotating screen for turning in to a tablet from a notebook and it has triple hinges for making it far more durable that your usual convertible. And the 11 hour battery can also be optionally upgraded to 15 hours for prolonged unplugged use. It also has a bridge battery that allows you to hot swap batteries on the go, essentially giving you a brief back up power while you take out the main battery and swap it in.
It comes with a 720p HD cam, a Y-strap for carrying around and has a multitude of connectivity options — WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with options for 4G LTE or 3G GOBI mobile broadband built in. It has two USB 3.0 and HDMI with options for VGA, Modem Port and also NFC and SmartCard reader for two factor authentication for enhanced security. It also comes with various sensors like ambient light, gyro, magnetometer (digital compass), etc.
The C2 will start off at just under $3,000.
