If you haven’t heard it yet, the latest Build 7048 will give users the possibility to remove the Internet Explorer completely from your PC. This is a precaution of Microsoft to avoid getting sued again due to monopoly forming.

Should you want to download that leaked build make sure to compare your MD5 hash and file size

Size: 3.31GB

Yep, that’s the current price for a pirated Windows 7 copy in the Philippines.

Source: http://asia.cnet.com/

Of course Microsoft knows about pirated copies, but there is not much they can do about it. If they would sell Windows 7 for a fair individual price for low-wages countries, people would probably start importing Windows 7 because it would be a legal copy. That’s why they simply ignore low-wages countries and do not try to stop software pirates.

They still managed to sell more than 140,000,000 legal copies of Windows Vista!

According to PCWorld.com Microsoft received about 500,000 comments from Windows 7 beta-testers. That feedback helped to fix about 2,000 bugs.

One of those changes in the RC that might be of interest for you.

19. Custom theme improvements

We’ve always known customers love personalizing their Windows experience. At the center of this expression of individuality are ingredients such as the desktop background, glass color, sounds and screensavers. In Windows 7 we’ve introduced themes that make it easy to enable a whole package of default combinations or for customers to save their own creations. However, during Beta we heard feedback along the lines of “I just changed my background or color and I see the change, but I thought it was saved when it really wasn’t”. We added text under each theme to not only aid in identification, but also to provide feedback on the state of a theme. The new “Unsaved Theme” text also ties better to the nearby “Save theme” command. These tweaks should make personalization a more predictable and enjoyable experience.

Well, I wanted to check if that’s working in Windows 7.

First of all download DOC to PDF here. And you will also need GhostScript which you can download here.

After downloading and installing do the following:

Goto “Start” -> “Devices and Printers” ->Right-click on “Adobe PDF”
Select “Printing Preferences” and on the following windows uncheck “Do not send fonts to Adobe PDF” (can be slightly different).

That’s it, start converting through Word2PDF!

To find out if the Windows 7 Update is working properly Microsoft will send out dummy updates, which are no real updates.
The “updates” will be available on “24th of February”, yay! It will simply replace a few system files and do nothing else.

Should you find a new Windows 7 update on a suspicious torrent site, then it will probably be a fake.
Unfortunately, if there are not going to be any real updates, I suppose Windows 7 will be released this year.
‘Unfortunately’, because I was hoping for a longer beta phase.

Microsoft is currently preparing a release client of Windows 7. The latest build to date is Build 7046.
According to Neowin the internal RC (release client) testing phase will start on April 10, 2009.

The german site Winfuture says that this RC will be released internally (to TechNet subscribers for example) on February 27, 2009.

GeekSmack reported that Windows 7 Build 7042 was compiled on “February 11″. A Build 7048 does not even exist yet. So we have the following timeline:

Timeline:

- January 29 : Build 7032

- February 11 : Build 7041

- February xx: Build 7048 does not yet exist

- February 27, 2009: RC 1 internal testing

- April 10: Public release of RC 1 (approx. if there are no crucial problems)
