Though widely expected, Nokia’s Lumia 920 and 820 devices are launching in November, and on AT&T

Nokia announced flagship Windows Phone 8 devices Lumias 920 and 820 during September, though did not confirm a release date or price despite Windows Phone 8’s probable impending launch. AT&T revealed in a press release the devices will launch in November, featuring the same internals but new colors.

Confirmed on October 5, AT&T said the devices will be exclusive for the carrier’s customers. The carrier getting Windows Phone exclusivity probably isn’t surprising: the carrier offered Lumia 900s for $99. At the time the price was seen as great value for a flagship smartphone.

The models are the same as what was shown when Nokia unveils its devices. Lumia 920 features a 4.5-inch screen, an eight-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, and a rear camera with 720p video. Nokia is also introducing City Lens, an augmented reality service that shows locations of business when pointed the camera at a location.

Multiple Flagship Smartphones

Nokia’s Lumia 820, the mid-range Windows Phone 8 device, also releases sometime in November. It features a smaller 4.3-inch screen, and a Snapdragon 1.5GHz processor, among other internals. Nokia didn’t launch a low-end Windows Phone devices, unlike HTC’s One trio for Android.

AT&T also confirmed support for HTC’s 8X smartphone, a flagship Windows Phone 8 device. The messaging is confusing for Microsoft, and consumers, because the company seems to be offering multiple flagship Windows Phone 8 devices. When HTC unveiled the 8X and the mid-range 8S, a Nokia employee criticized HTC for copying Nokia Lumia devices. The messaging may become more diluted if Microsoft introduces its Windows Phone 8 device.

The Lumia 920 will be available in red, blue, white, black, and the new cyan color Nokia teased in a video showing a Red Bull app. The Lumia 820 comes just in black. The devices release for AT&T in November. No specific date is available.

Windows Phone 8 launches October 29, just three days after Windows 8’s launch on October 26.
